Pack Continues Outdoor Season at Duke Invite, UVA Challenge

RALEIGH - The NC State track and field team is set to continue the outdoor season as it competes at the Wake Forest Invitational in Winston-Salem, NC and the UVA Challenge in Charlottesville, Va this weekend.Â

The Wolfpack is fresh off of strong performances at both the Duke Invite and Tom Jones Memorial Invite last weekend.Â
Zach Hughes came up big on the first night of the Duke Invite, breaking the school record for the men's 800m with a third-place finish of 1:48.39.Â
Freshman Angelina Napoleon took the win in the women's 800m, clocking in at 2:07.81. With a clock-in of 2:10.19, Kate Putman snatched fourth place.
Hannah Gapes took second in the women's 1500m invite with a time of 4:17.35. Nevada Mareno (4:19.91) and Leah Stephens (4:21.77) finished fifth and sixth, respectively. Napoleon also recorded a top-10 finish, clocking in at 4:22.43 to finish eighth.
Joe Jaster ran a time of 3:53.11 in the men's 1500m to claim ninth place.Â
At the Tom Jones Memorial Invite, Sydney Freeman finished fifth overall in the women's hammer throw, turning in a mark of 56.48m, the fourth-best in school history. Makala Wright also finished inside the top-10 in the event, throwing 55.93m to take fifth.
In the men's high jump invitational Kyzaiah Stone leapt 2.13m to set a new PR and finish sixth. Judd Armstrong finished eighth in the men's high jump with a mark of 2.04m.
On the women's side of the long jump, Jirah Sidberry took seventh with a jump of 6.07m.
