
Pack Returns to Blacksburg for Hokie Invitational

RALEIGH - The NC State track and field team will compete in its third indoor meet of the season as it travels to Blacksburg, VA. for the second time in as many weeks, this time taking part in the annual Hokie Invitational.

The Pack totaled six personal best marks and an event victory last weekend at the Virginia Tech Invite.Â
Ally Henson kicked off the first night of action in a big way, winning the women's 60m hurdles with a personal best time of 8.29 that sits as fifth-best in program history. Henson previously came in second in the prelim of the event with a time of 8.45.
In the women's long jump, newcomer Jayda Hunter made an early season mark by setting a personal best in the event with a jump of 5.28m. Hunter added another personal record on day two of the meet, leaping 12.59m in the women's triple jump to finish second overall.
After a second-place performance in the women's weight throw at the Winston-Salem College Kickoff, to start the 2023-24 indoor season, Makala Wright continued to shine in her second event of the year. The Clarendon, N.C. native finished third in the event with a new personal record of 19.22m, the fifth-best throw in NC State history.
Ta'Honny Exum established the seventh-best mark in school history in the women's shot put by tossing a personal best 13.79m.
Her counterpart Nathan Lau also hit a new personal record by throwing 15.09m in the men's shot put.
