Pack Set to Resume Indoor Season in Blacksburg

RALEIGH - The NC State track and field team is set to return to action tomorrow as it kicks off the first day of the Virginia Tech Invitational in Blacksburg, VA.

The Wolfpack will return to the track after competing in the Winston-Salem College Kickoff and the Sharon-Colyear Danville Season Opener just over a month ago.Â
The Pack sent a group of throwers, jumpers, and sprinters to Winston-Salem and they got the season off to a hot start. Makala Wright continued to establish herself as one of NC State's most talented throwers, tossing 18.44m to finish second in the women's weight throw.Â
Sydney Freeman (17.52m) and Mahkayla Hart (16.50m) also recorded times inside the top-10, finishing sixth and seventh, respectively.
Ta'Honny Exum finished fifth in the women's shot put with a mark of 13.76m. Freeman finished ninth with a toss of 12.48m and Hart rounded out the top-10 with a throw of 12.44m.
Jakerra Covington submitted a leap of 1.54m to claim seventh in the women's high jump.
Nathan Lau picked up an 11th-place finish in the men's weight throw with a throw of 15.27m.Â
The Pack's distance runners made the trip to Boston for the Danville Season Opener. Freshman Angelina Napoleon made her collegiate track & field debut and managed to place 13th in the women's mile with a time of 4:43.64.Â
Sam Bush followed up an impressive cross country postseason by placing 12th in the women's 3000m with a time of 9:01.83.
