Track & Field Wraps Up First Day of Weekend Meets

RALEIGH - The NC State track & field teams concluded the first day of competition at the Darius Dixon Memorial Invite and the Tyson Invitational on Friday, earning a podium finish and multiple PRs.
DISTANCE
Four members of the Wolfpack recorded personal records in the men's 3000m, led by Robinson Snider's 8:05.66. Ian Harrison tabbed an 8:06.77 while Brett Gardner earned an 8:14.12. Nate Kawalec rounded out the PR-setting group with his time of 8:18.77.
In the women's 3000m, Gionna Quarzo recorded a first-place finish and personal best with a time of 9:24.78. Heather Holt and Jenna Schulz each ran personal-best marks in the event with Holt clocking a 9:38.12 and Schulz posting a 9:39.59.
NC State saw four PRs across the men's and women's sections of the 800m, three of those coming in the men's race. Zach Hughes was the highest finisher for the Pack with a 1:51.59, followed by Jake Toomey's 1:51.83 and Miles Ally's 1:53.96.
Anna Vess laced up for the Wolfpack in the women's 800m, running a personal-best 2:09.30.
SPRINTS
Henry Young opened the day of running events for NC State in the 60m prelims, posting a 7.05 to move on to the event semifinals where he ran a 7.10.
In the men's 60m hurdles, Cameron Murray clocked a 7.87 to advance to Saturday's final. His mark improved his own third-best mark in program history. On the women's side, Ally Henson qualified for the final with a mark of 8.66.
JUMPS
Four members of the Wolfpack competed at the Tyson Invitational, led by Von Douglas' fifth-place finish in the men's long jump invitational (7.93m, 26'0.25").
THROWS
Lance Penegar recorded a personal-best mark of 16.87m (55'4.25") in the men's weight throw, and in the women's section of the event Makala Wright threw for a PR of 16.86m (55'3.75").

Action continues for NC State Saturday, Feb. 12 at the Darius Dixon Memorial Invite, the Tyson Invitational and the David Hemery Valentine Invite.
