RALEIGH – NC State baseball's (9-10, 4-9 ACC) five-game win streak was snapped on Friday evening in its series opener with Clemson (13-10, 7-6 ACC) at Doak Field at Dail Park with a 10-6 loss.
The Tigers got off to a hot start as Dylan Brewer launched a two-run home run over the center field wall in the first with no outs, but the Pack took a one-run lead in the bottom with three runs on five hits.
J.T. Jarrett extended the Pack's lead to 4-2 in the second with a leadoff home run, his first of the season.
A two-run fourth inning on four hits gave NC State a 6-2 advantage through four complete, but Brewer came up clutch in the fifth with his second home run of the night, a grand slam to left field, to knot the score up at six.
In the eighth, Clemson took back its first lead since the beginning of the game thanks to bases-loaded two-run singles by Alex Urban and Kier Meredith.
NC State tried to rally in the ninth when Jonny Butler laced a one-out double to left center and pinch hitter Noah Soles drew a two-out walk, but it came up short to suffer the loss in game one of the series.
