RALEIGH – NC State baseball (9-11, 4-10 ACC) suffered a 9-3 loss to Clemson (14-10, 8-6 ACC) on Saturday night at Doak Field at Dail Park. With the loss the Wolfpack drops the series with the Tigers.
Clemson once again struck first thanks to Alex Urban's two-run home run to left field in the second inning. The Wolfpack responded in the bottom of the frame with a run of its own, as J.T. Jarrett laced a one-out single to drive in Jose Torres, who reached on an error and moved to second on a Devonte Brown walk.
Dylan Brewer added to Clemson's lead in the fifth when he belted a two-run home run to right center, making the score 4-1 in favor of the Tigers. It was Brewer's third home run of the series.
In the seventh, the Tigers capitalized on a couple of NC State miscues to extend their lead to 6-1. With runners in scoring position following a walk and double, a balk and passed ball plated the runs.
The Pack cut its deficit to 6-3 in the bottom frame thanks to Austin Murr's two-out double down the right field line, knocking Brown and Jarrett in after they reached on a hit-by-pitch and outfield single, respectively.
Bryce Teodosio hit the team's third home run of the night to left field to start the ninth, extending Clemson's lead to four. An RBI double by Brewer followed by a wild pitch tacked on two more insurance runs in the frame.
