#Pack9 Returns Home This Weekend For Series With Clemson

RALEIGH – NC State baseball (9-9, 4-8 ACC) returns home this weekend on a five-game win streak for a three-game series with Clemson (12-0, 6-6 ACC) at Doak Field at Dail Park. The teams will play at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, while the finale will be played at 1 p.m. Sunday.
The first two games will be broadcast on the ACC Network with Mike Monaco and Adam Greenberg on the call, while Sunday's contest will air on the ACC Network Extra. Additionally, there will be a free audio stream on WKNC 88.1 and the TuneIn App.
ATTENDANCE POLICY
With the recent updates to capacity guidelines for Doak Field at Dail Park, NC State Athletics is able to increase fan attendance for the remainder of the season. NC State student-athletes, NC State students and NC State baseball season ticket holders will all have increased allotments for upcoming games.
A full concessions menu on the first base side will be provided for fans. Both cash and credit card will be accepted. Fans are no longer permitted to bring in outside food but are still allowed to bring in an unopened bottle of water.

SERIES HISTORY
Heading into this weekend NC State and Clemson have met 206 times, as the Tigers lead the all-time series 118-87-1.
The squads last met on May 10-12, 2019 in Raleigh, and the Pack took two of three. It opened the series with a 6-1 victory, and then suffered a 4-3 10-inning loss in game two before earning a convincing 8-3 win in the rubber game.
NC State has won the last three series between the teams, including a sweep on March 16-18, 2018 in Clemson, S.C., which was a program first.
LAST TIME OUT
NC State finished off a five-game road swing on Tuesday with a 3-0 win at UNCG, extending its win streak to five.
Chris Villaman threw a one-hitter complete game shutout for his first win of the year on the mound. He yielded a double and walked three, allowing just four batters to reach base the entire game. He additionally tallied a career-best nine strikeouts.
It was the first time since Feb. 29, 2020 that the Wolfpack pitching staff had tossed a one-hitter, as Nick Swiney and Dalton Feeney combined to accomplish the feat in the team's 6-0 win over Iowa at the CambriaCollegeClassic in Minneapolis, Minn.
ROAD WARRIORS
NC State wrapped up its first road stretch of the season with a perfect 5-0 record. The Pack defeated UNCW on March 23, swept then-No. 11 North Carolina last weekend and then finished with its first shutout win of the year at UNCG on Tuesday.
GOING THE DISTANCE
Currently, NC State is the only school in the ACC to have two pitchers throw a complete game this season as Reid Johnston and Villaman did so in a five-day span.
Johnston earned his first start of the year on March 26 at then-No. 11 North Carolina, and he made the most of it as he tossed the second complete game of his career. He yielded seven hits and two runs while fanning four to pick up his second win of the year in the 9-2 victory over the Tar Heels.
Villaman threw his first career complete game on March 30 at UNCG and allowed just one hit in the 3-0 shutout win. It was the first complete game shutout thrown by a Wolfpack pitcher since Johnston did so on March 30, 2019 against Virginia, which was also a 3-0 win.
PICKING UP WHERE HE LEFT OFF
Tyler McDonough picked up right where he left off in the 2020 season as he has reached base safely in his last 35 games. His streak is currently the longest in the ACC.
APPROACHING 900 WINS AT NC STATE
Head coach Elliott Avent currently sits at 898 wins at NC State, and is two away from reaching the 900-win milestone. He is the winningest head coach in NC State history.
He is one of 10 active DI head baseball coaches with at least 1,000 career wins, and the 11th-winningest active head coach in NCAA baseball. Additionally, he ranks seventh among active DI head baseball coaches in career victories.
SCOUTING CLEMSON
The Tigers dropped its midweek contest against No. 23 Georgia, 2-0, on Tuesday in its last time out, snapping a five-game win streak that was highlighted by a series sweep at Boston College.
James Parker and reigning ACC Player of the Week Caden Grice currently lead the team offensively with batting averages of .378 and .338, respectively. The two pace the squad with six homers apiece, while Parker owns a team-best 34 hits and Grice has driven in a team-high 25 runs. The pair ranks among the top 10 in the ACC in all three categories.
Friday starter Nick Hoffmann earned his first career start on March 27 in the second game of Clemson's doubleheader at Boston College, and threw a complete game in the team's 7-2 win. Saturday starter Keyshawn Askew leads all starters with a 1.35 earned-run average, making two starts in his three appearances, and has tallied 18 strikeouts in 13.1 innings.
Clemson's bullpen owns an 8-3 record and 2.93 ERA with 130 strikeouts and has allowed just 17 of 65 inherited baserunners to score. It is led by freshman Geoffrey Gilbert who has made 12 appearances and has compiled a .93 ERA in 19.1 innings.
