RALEIGH, N.C. – The ACC regular season title is on the line Friday night, as a pair of undefeated, top-10 teams do battle when #3 NC State travels to #8 Virginia Tech. The match will be televised on the ACC Network at 8 p.m.

NC State has won each of the last three duals in the series, breaking a stretch of nine straight VT wins from 2009-17. The Pack has won only once in Blacksburg since 2006, a 17-16 win on criteria the last time NC State traveled up to VT in 2019.

Last year in a top-10 battle, #3 NC State won three of the final four bouts to claim a 21-18 win over #7 Virginia Tech. The Hokies claimed a pin at 197 to take the 15-9 lead, but NC State went back-to-back top-20 wins at heavyweight and 125 to tie the dual 15-15. R-Fr. Jarrett Trombley clinched the dual for NC State with a third straight Wolfpack top-20 win, as he locked up a cradle for the first period fall over #22 Collin Gerardi.

Leading the ACC Pack
With two ACC duals left, NC State currently has seven of its 10 starters with an undefeated ACC mark thus far. The Pack has won 22 of its 30 matches in ACC action thus far, and the seven to be undefeated have combined for 20 of those wins.

Pack vs. Ranked Teams
#8 Virginia Tech is the third straight ranked ACC foes the Pack will face on three straight Friday nights. NC State is 29-8 against ranked foes over the last six seasons, with a winning record each season. Even more impressive, NC State is 15-4 in ranked battles outside of Raleigh during that time.

The Hokies are the third ranked foe for the Pack this abbreviated season. NC State defeated #12 Pitt in Reynolds, 27-6, and last weekend the Pack claimed a 28-10 win at #14 North Carolina. In the two duals, NC State won 15 of the 20 matches, five for bonus.

NC State has started the 2021 season 5-0, this coming off of the first-ever undefeated dual season in school history last year (15-0). Dating back to the 2019 season, the Pack has won 22 straight duals, the longest winning streak in the NCAA (Iowa-16).
