RALEIGH – No. 8 NC State baseball (2-4, 0-3 ACC) fell to No. 15 Georgia Tech (6-1, 3-0 ACC), 8-4, on Sunday afternoon in the series finale at Doak Field at Dail Park.
The Yellow Jackets got off to a hot start, scoring four runs on a pair of doubles and base hit in the first inning. NC State cut into its deficit with runs in the third, fifth and seventh innings, but Tech managed to answer back with a run of its own every time to maintain its lead.
Down 8-3 in the bottom of the ninth, Austin Murr scored on a wild pitch to start the attempted comeback. Despite a Jonny Butler walk and Tyler McDonough single to put runners at the corners with two outs, the team ultimately fell short to suffer the series sweep.
