Pack Earns Five Event Titles at Black and Gold Challenge

The Pack Collected four titles on Saturday
ORLANDO, Fla. – On the last day of competition at the Black and Gold Challenge, NC State collected nine podium finishes, including four event titles. Saturday's performance brought the Pack's medal count to double digits on the weekend (10), and the Pack's title count to five.
Gabriele Cunningham had an impressive outing, winning the women's 100m hurdles and women's 100m dash while placing second in the women's 200m dash.
Javonne Antoine (women's triple jump) and Shannon Patterson (men's 200m dash) rounded out first-place finishes for NC State.
Jumps: NC State was represented on the podium in women's triple jump by Javonne Antoine and Michelle Cobb, claiming first-place and second-place finishes. Both recorded 40'7" (12.37m) marks, entering NC State's top-10 list. The jumps by Antoine and Cobb were beyond the ACC qualifying standard of 12.26m.
JaTory Reid collected a bronze-medal finish in men's high jump with a 6'6.75" (2.00m) mark.
Ashley Ho's 5'2.25" (1.58m) mark in women's high jump earned her a top-10 finish.
Throws: Tyson Fortenberry placed on the podium with a 159'11" (48.74m) throw in discus, good for third place.
Sprints: Cunningham finished the 100m hurdles in 13.18, a personal-best for the Charlotte, N.C., native, which sits as third-fastest in school history. The senior outran the ACC qualifying standard on Saturday (13.78). Teammate Alexis Postell clocked NC State's fourth-best time in the record books and the fastest time of her career in the event with a 14.01 mark. With a time of 14.69, freshman Timara Chapman also entered the top-10 times in the school record books.
Cunningham picked up her second first-place finish of the day, clocking in at 11.38 in the women's 100m dash. That time checks in at No. 2 in program history. Freshman McKenzie Long rounded out the top-10 finishes for the Pack, finishing in 11.74, NC State's fourth-fastest mark all-time.
Ending her day in the 200m dash, Cunningham earned silver-medal honors, running the third-fastest time in school history (23.34). She also outran the ACC qualifying mark (23.95).
Cravont Charleston continued the success of the Pack sprinters with a second-place finish in the men's 100m dash (10.50), faster than the ACC qualifying standard (10.69)
NC State recorded another gold-medal finish thanks to Shannon Patterson's 21.03 performance in the 200m dash. His time is faster than the conference's qualifying mark (21.35). Alexander Lang placed fourth for the Pack (21.37), while Junpai Dowdy set a new career-best in the event (21.74).
In the men's 400m dash, Shannon Patterson earned a fourth-place finish with a time of 48.16, a new personal-best.
