
Evans Sets School Record As Pack Records Seven Podium Finishes

NC State Earns Four First-Place Finishes
CLEMSON, S.C. — The Wolfpack track and field team earned seven podium finishes at the Clemson Opener at the Clemson Indoor Track and Field Complex in Clemson, S.C., on Saturday. Lauren Evans took home two first-place finishes, including breaking the women's indoor school record in shot put. NC State posted a total of four first-place finishes on the day.
Throws:
Competing in their second weight throw event of the indoor season, Lauren Evans (20.55m) and Grace Gaudin (17.64m) secured first and second-place finishes respectively for the Wolfpack. Both Wolfpack throws met ACC Indoor Track & Field Championships qualifying standards. Evans is now undefeated in weight throw competition this season, while Gaudin has accomplished back-to-back second-place finishes.
Evans earned another gold-medal finish in shot put, throwing for the NC State program record with a 55'0.75" (16.78m) mark. Standing atop the record books since 2014, the record was previously held by Tremanisha Taylor at 54'4.5". Grace Gaudin threw for a career-best 42'2.75" (12.87m).

Jumps:
Mikieja Covington and Janel Pate cracked the top-10 in the NC State women's indoor track and field record books in long jump and earned podium finishes on Saturday. Mikieja Covington finished in first place for the second meet in a row with a mark of 18'10" (5.74m). Janel Pate finished right behind Covington, recording a 18'8" (5.69m) jump to place second. For the second meet in a row, Covington and Pate have taken the podium together (JDL College Kick-Off Classic).
Pole Vault:
Grant Rivers finished in first place in the men's pole vault competition, clearing 13'1.5" (4.00m).
Sprints/Hurdles:
The Wolfpack qualified for the finals in the women's and men's 60 meter hurdles. Mikieja Covington set a new personal-best in the 60 meter hurdles final, posting an 8.93. Grant Rivers qualified in the men's competition.
In the 60m dash, Janel Pate and Nia Judkins posted prelim times that qualified for the finals. Pate earned a bronze-medal finish, posting a 7.57. Nia Judkins placed sixth in the final.
In the women's 200m dash, Kylia Wright set a new personal-best with a time of 25.44. Her time placed her seventh out of 21 competitors.
Junpai Dowdy posted a 22.04 in the men's 200m dash.
Relays:
The women's 4x400 meter relay consisting of McKenzie Long, Nia Judkins, Kylia Wright, and Janel Pate placed fifth overall with a time of 3:59:56.
