Three Reasons to See This Team
1. NC State stands No. 6 in D1Baseball's rankings, No. 8 in RPI, No. 9 in the Perfect Game Top 25, and No. 12 according to Baseball America. The Wolfpack has never been ranked No. 1 in program history. NC State baseball's highest ranking ever remains No. 2, achieved in 1993 and 2003. The Pack made it to No. 5 in 2013.
2. Seven everyday starters hit .300 or better. Brett Kinneman owns the team's best average at .356, following hits in 13 of his first 14 college starts. Wolfpack fans eagerly await the return of starting centerfielder Josh McLain, owner of a team-best .466 average against ACC competition.
3. NC State's 2016 team has 37 home runs to its credit, 16 shy of matching the season output from a year ago. This year's team has eight more bombs than all of 2013, and seven more than 2014. Chance Shepard's 11 mark the most for any NC State player since Ryan Mathews hit 17 in 2012, a year the Wolfpack mustered 44 dingers as a team.
