NC State opened its 2026 campaign at the Virginia Tech Invitational with a standout performance, highlighted by a new school record in the men's 300 meters and several athletes earning spots on the program's all-time top-10 lists for their respective events.
In the women's 60m hurdles, Aminah Rhone posted a time of 8.73, moving into 10th all-time in program history. On the men's side, James Coleman ran 8.10 to rank seventh all-time in the same event.
The women's 300m saw Alexis Mayhew and Jordyn Parker etch their names into the record book, ranking seventh and eighth all-time, respectively. On the men's side, Christian Parker delivered a historic performance, setting a new school record with a time of 33.54.
In the field events, Mariama Hunt recorded a mark of 7.06m (19' 11") in the long jump, which stands as the eighth-best time in program history. Nia Poole also added to the all-time list, as her mark of 12.22m (40' 1") ranks ninth in the triple jump.
Both the men's and women's 4x400 relay squads joined the top-10 ranks as well. The women's team of Jordyn Parker, Aminah Rhone, Shaune Ingraham and Alexis Mayhew clocked a time of 3:51.12 to rank seventh all-time, while the men's group of Elijah Dawes, James Coleman, Xavier Branker and Christian Parker ran 3:14.83, good for ninth in program history.
