NC State Heats Up in Jacksonville, Sends Seven to Nationals

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Seven members of the NC State track and field team have qualified for the NCAA National Championships following a strong showing at the East Regional First Round in Jacksonville, Fla.
Who's Headed to Nationals
Tyson Adams earned his spot in Eugene by finishing fifth in the long jump with a mark of 7.61 meters (24' 11.75").
In the first round of the 800 meters, Patrick Tuohy ran 1:47.55 to place seventh and advance to the quarterfinals. He then clocked a personal-best 1:46.60 in the quarterfinals to qualify for nationals and defended his title as the program's all-time best in the event.
Brett Gardner is also headed to the NCAA Championships after running 8:37.63 in the steeplechase to finish seventh.
Mariama Hunt secured the 12th and final qualifying spot in the long jump with a leap of 6.11 meters (20' 0.5"), earning her a trip to the championships. She becomes the first female freshman from NC State to qualify for nationals in the event under Coach Coleman.
Grace Hartman shattered the University of North Florida facility record in the 10,000 meters with a time of 32:32.80 on Thursday, finishing first to clinch her place in Eugene. She returned to the track in the 5,000 meters and delivered another dominant performance, breaking the facility record again with a time of 15:23.52 to take first and punch her second ticket to nationals.
Sam Bush followed Hartman's lead in the 5,000 meters, securing her spot at nationals with a time of 15:28.10 to finish sixth.Angelina Napoleon qualified in the women's steeplechase with a time of 9:37.42, finishing second overall.

The Wolfpack will return to action at the NCAA Championships, scheduled for June 11–14 in Eugene, Ore.
