
Wolfpack Baseball Looks to Continue Win Streak Against Wright State

RALEIGH, NC – Riding a five-game win streak, following a 2-0 week against UNCG and Campbell, NC State Baseball gets set to welcome Wright State for a three-game series beginning on Friday, March 7th at 3 p.m. All three games will be broadcast on ACCNX.
The weekend series will be the first meeting between the two programs since 2016 and just the seventh all-time between the Wolfpack and the Raiders. The series is tied 3-3. The 1994 Mideast Regional in Knoxville, Tenn. marked the first meeting between the two schools with Wright State winning 14-12, then two days later NC State would win 10-6.
In each of the five victories during the streak, the Wolfpack offense has scored double-digit runs, including three run-rule victories. NC State is 8-0 this year when scoring double-digit runs. Wolfpack pitching recorded 19 consecutive scoreless innings over the same span. NC State is the only ACC team to have won five straight games, scoring 10+ runs.

With a 10-0 win over Canisius and a 10-0 win over UNCG in the midweek, NC State posted consecutive shutouts for the first time since 2017. Cooper Consiglio and Anderson Nance combined to go nine innings against the Spartans, allowing no runs on seven hits, no walks, and eight strikeouts, with Nance earning his first collegiate win.
Jacob Dudan registered his first career start against Campbell on Wednesday after appearing four times out of the bullpen this season. Dudan went 3.0 IP, allowing no runs, no hits, and no walks, matching his career best in strikeouts with six. Dudan started the game striking out five of six batters, picking up his first win of the season.
With victories over UNCG and Campbell, NC State picked up its first midweek wins of the year after being 0-2. NC State went 3-6 in midweek games a season ago.
Wolfpack starting pitching has been on a roll lately. Dominic Fritton has a 1.20 ERA and picked up his first win of the season last week against Canisius. Fritton went six innings and struck out a career-high 12 batters.
Last Saturday, Heath Andrews pitched a career-best seven innings, allowing only one earned run on three hits and three strikeouts.
On Sunday, Ryan Marohn tossed a gem in the Wolfpack's 10-0 win over Canisius. Marohn threw a complete-game shutout after going a career-high seven innings and had 11 strikeouts as he held Canisius scoreless on five hits and zero walks. Marohn is among 25 pitchers nationally to pitch a complete game and the only ACC pitcher. He ranks 28th in the nation and fifth in the ACC with 24 strikeouts.

Wright State head coach Alex Sogard enters his seventh season at the helm of the Raiders. Sogard played three collegiate seasons at NC State under head coach Elliott Avent. In 2008, Sogard closed the regional championship game against South Carolina to win the Raleigh Regional. Sogard was drafted by the Diamondbacks in 2008 in the 26th round of the MLB Draft but chose to stay in school, ultimately being drafted by the Astros in 2010. His career also includes playing in the World Baseball Classic for Team Czech Republic in 2012 in Germany and 2016 in Mexico.
