RALEIGH, NC—NC State baseball continues its homestand this weekend when the Canisius Golden Griffins visit for a three-game series beginning on Friday, Feb. 27, and ending on March 2. All three games will be broadcast on ACC Network Extra.
The Wolfpack will look to end their longest losing streak since 2021 after dropping five straight following a sweep of Fordham to begin the season.
Canisius visits Raleigh for the fourth time in series history and holds a 2-1 record against the Wolfpack. In their last meeting in 2018, the Golden Griffins defeated NC State 3-2. The only other encounters between the two teams occurred in 2014, when they opened the season with a series split.
PROJECTED STARTING PITCHERS:
Friday: LHP Dominic Fritton (NCSU) vs. Payton Consigli (CAN)
Saturday: RHP Heath Andrews (NCSU) vs. Felix Morin (CAN)
Sunday: LHP Ryan Marohn (NCSU) vs. Aaron Duffy (CAN)
The Wolfpack rotation will remain the same as the first two weekends, and all three will look to get back in the win column. Fritton has allowed six runs this season, but only one has been earned. In his two previous starts, the Wolfpack has made a total of four errors.
As a freshman last season, Ryan Marohn led all NC State pitchers with a 3.97 ERA. The sophomore currently leads the team in strikeouts with 13. McHugh leads the team in most offensive categories. He is hitting .345 for the season with a team-high 10 hits and 10 RBIs. He has three multi-hit games and three multiple RBI games, including two with three runs batted in. The Sophomore from Commack, NY, has hit safely in six of the eight games this season.
