#Pack9 Run Rules Longwood 14-0 in Seven Innings

Wolfpack Improves to 8-0 on the Season
RALEIGH – The Wolfpack scored in its first five team at-bats as it cruised to a 14-0 victory over Longwood Tuesday afternoon at Doak Field at Dail Park.
NC State (8-0) opened the first inning with a pair of two-out, two-run home runs to take a 4-0 lead. Carter Trice belted a two-run homer to left field out of the cleanup spot, scoring LuJames Groover III to make it 2-0. Catcher Jacob Cozart then doubled the Pack's advantage with a towering home run to center field.
On the mound, left-hander P.J. Labriola earned his first victory in an NC State uniform after pitching four shutout innings, striking out a pair of opposing batters without allowing a walk. Labriola scattered only three hits and threw only 51 pitches in his second-career start.
Payton Green continued his hot streak to open the 2023 season with a bases-loaded, two-RBI double in the second inning, stretching NC State's lead to 6-0. Groover III then singled to left field to make it 7-0 after two innings.
Kalae Harrison's RBI double to deep right-center drove in another run for the Pack in the eighth inning, scoring Parker Nolan all the way from first base. Cozart cleared the bases with a three-RBI double in the top of the fourth inning, making it 11-0. Harrison then notched his second straight inning with an RBI with an infield single, scoring Cozart from third to extend the lead to 12-0.
Dominic Pilolli crushed a pinch-hit home run in the fifth inning to push the game to its final scoreline at 14-0. Pilolli turned on the first pitch of his at-bat, depositing the ball well beyond the right-field wall.
Everette Harris, John Miralia and Derrick Smith each recorded hitless innings of relief out of the Wolfpack bullpen. Miralia and Harris each recorded a pair of strikeouts, while Smith needed just eight pitches to record the final three outs of the game.
Matt Heavner, who entered the game as a pinch runner in the fourth inning, remained in the game at third base and later recorded his first-career hit with a single to center field in the bottom of the fifth. Heavner later reached on an infield single in the sixth inning, finishing the game 2-for-2 with two runs scored.
Cozart tied with Groover III with a team-high three hits, while Cozart's five RBI ranked as a team-high alone. All nine Wolfpack starters reached base in Tuesday's 14-0 victory.
