ELON, N.C. – Graduate defender Jenna Butler registered her second straight game with a late goal to lift the No. 17 NC State women's soccer team to a 2-1 comeback victory Thursday night at Elon's Rudd Field.

Butler, who scored the tying goal in NC State's 2-2 draw against No. 11 Georgetown on Sunday, again scored with less than 15 minutes remaining when she headed home a corner kick from fellow graduate defender Lulu Guttenberger. The Wolfpack scored both its goals on corner kicks, earning seven corners compared to zero for Elon (1-2-1).

NC State (4-0-1) fell behind in the 13^th minute after Jessica Carrieri recorded the opener, making it the first time this season the Wolfpack allowed the game's first goal. Carrieri's strike made it 1-0 Elon just 10 minutes after Guttenberger missed from the penalty spot in the third minute, striking the crossbar for NC State's first of 23 shots in the game.

The Wolfpack outshot the Phoenix 13-3 in the opening half, increasing the pressure in the final 15 minutes of the first period. Fernanda Soto fired a shot from outside the box just over the crossbar in the 37^th minute. The Pack then tallied three shots following Soto's shot from distance, including a close-range header from Leyah Hall-Robinson. Hall-Robinson drifted toward the near post, heading a shot on goal after a pintpoint cross from Guttenberger in the 41^st minute.

Just over two minutes later, Jaiden Thomas poked home her first goal of the season off NC State's fourth and final corner kick of the first half. Thomas' goal marked her fourth straight game with a point, knotting the match at 1-1 in the 43^rd minute.

NC State outshot Elon 10-5 in the second half, drawing three yellow cards from Elon defenders in the final 45 minutes. The Wolfpack almost grabbed its third goal three minutes after Butler's game-winner when Elon goalkeeper McKenna Dalfonso denied Jameese Joseph on her fifth shot of the night.

The Wolfpack's 23 shots marked a season as four student-athletes recorded four shots or more – Hall-Robinson (six), Joseph (five), Butler (four) and Annika Wohner (four).
