9/3/2022 10:00:00 AM | Women's Soccer
RALEIGH – The No. 17 NC State women's soccer team (4-0-1) returns home Sunday to host Harvard at Dail Soccer Stadium. Sunday's kickoff is set for 1 p.m. and will stream live on ACC Network Extra.
LAST TIME OUT
Graduate defender Jenna Butler registered her second straight game with a late goal to lift NC State to a 2-1 comeback victory at Elon on Thursday night. After allowing the opening goal for the first time this season, NC State grabbed the equalizer right before halftime when Jaiden Thomas finished off a corner kick from Lulu Guttenberger. Thomas' strike made it four straight games with a point, logging three assists and a goal in her past four matches. The Pack then clinched the victory when Butler headed home a goal off NC State's sixth corner kick of the night. Guttenberger joined Leyah Hall-Robinson as the second member of the Pack to record multiple assists in one game in 2022.
SERIES HISTORY
Sunday's meeting between the Wolfpack and Crimson will mark just the second all-time matchup in the series and the first since Oct. 11, 1985. NC State won the sole meeting 3-0.
SCOUTING THE CRIMSON
Harvard (3-0) has opened its season with a trio of victories, scoring three times or more in all three of its wins. The Crimson opened the year with high expectations, receiving votes in the United Soccer Coaches' Preseason Top 25 while also being tabbed to finish second in the Ivy League's Preseason Poll. Despite playing in just one match, sophomore Josefine Hasbo leads the Crimson with three goals, netting a hat trick against CCSU.
PACK AGAIN RANKS INSIDE TOPDRAWERSOCCER TOP 25
For the third straight week, TopDrawerSoccer ranked NC State (No. 17) in its latest Top 25. The Wolfpack joins six other ACC schools in the top 25 – Virginia (No. 1), Duke (No. 2), North Carolina (No. 3), Florida State (No. 9), Notre Dame (No. 10) and Clemson (No. 16).
JOSEPH NAMED TO NATIONAL TEAM OF THE WEEK
A week after being named TopDrawerSoccer's National Player of the Week, College Soccer News named Jameese Joseph to its National Team of the Week after a pair of goals in NC State's undefeated week against Campbell and No. 11 Georgetown.
