Wolfpack Travels to Elon Thursday for First Road Match of 2022

RALEIGH – The No. 17 NC State women's soccer team (3-0-1) will embark on its first road trip of the season Thursday when the Wolfpack faces Elon at Rudd Field. Kickoff in Elon, North Carolina, is set for 7 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT
Faced with a goal deficit in the final 11 minutes of play, graduate defender Jenna Butler scored her first goal of the season in the 85th minute to help NC State earn a 2-2 draw against No. 11 Georgetown at Dail Soccer Stadium. The Wolfpack scored the opener behind a super strike from Jameese Joseph outside the box to take a 1-0 lead right out of halftime, but the Hoyas rallied with the next two goals to take a 2-1 lead. Butler's close-range shot on the half volley kept the Pack undefeated. Annika Wohner, Brianna Weber and Jaiden Thomas earned assists in the contest with Thomas extending her point streak to three straight matches.

The Wolfpack holds a perfect 15-0-0 record against the Phoenix, posting shutouts in the past five matchups. NC State earned a 1-0 victory over Elon this past season when Jenna Butler scored the game-winner in the 59th minute. The Pack defeated Elon 5-0 in its most recent road match at Rudd Field in 2017.
SCOUTING THE PHOENIX
Elon (1-1-1) opened its 2022 campaign strong with a 3-0 win over American at home. The Phoenix has since earned a 3-3 draw against Howard before suffering a 5-1 defeat to Virginia Tech. Elon has six different goal scorers this season, which includes top point scorers Abby Fusca (three) and Molly Mahoney (three). Fusca and defender Katie Lowe both earned Preseason All-CAA honors in August.
PACK AGAIN RANKS INSIDE TOPDRAWERSOCCER TOP 25
For the third straight week, TopDrawerSoccer ranked NC State (No. 17) in its latest Top 25. The Wolfpack joins six other ACC schools in the top 25 – Virginia (No. 1), Duke (No. 2), North Carolina (No. 3), Florida State (No. 9), Notre Dame (No. 10) and Clemson (No. 16).
JOSEPH NAMED TO NATIONAL TEAM OF THE WEEK
A week after being named TopDrawerSoccer's National Player of the Week, College Soccer News named Jameese Joseph to its National Team of the Week after a pair of goals in NC State's undefeated week against Campbell and No. 11 Georgetown.
