Hays, Quarzo Post All-America Performances at NCAAs

EUGENE, Ore. - The NC State women's track & field team began action at the NCAA Championships on Thursday, racing in the 1500m semifinals and the 10000m final.
Nevada Mareno and Anna Vess opened competition for the Pack as they competed in the 1500m semifinals.
Mareno attained Honorable Mention All-America honors with her 23rd-place finish in the race, running a 4:26.52. Vess finished in 24th, crossing the finish line a 4:34.08 to also garner Honorable Mention All-America.
Allie Hays scored the first points for NC State at the meet with a fifth-place finish in the 10000m. Her time of 33:16.16 was good to earn her First Team All-America honors, making her the first member of the Pack with a First Team accolade at the 2022 National meet. Hays' placement in the event was NC State's highest in the 10000m since 2003 when Kristin Price placed third.
Gionna Quarzo represented the Pack in the 10000m as well, clocking a 33:46.78 to attain her first career All-America laurels. With a 16th-place finish, the Brownsville, Pa., native tabbed Second Team honors.
