
Chapman Begins Heptathlon Action at NCAA Championships

EUGENE, Ore. - NC State multi-events competitor Timara Chapman opened competition in the heptathlon at the NCAA Championships on Friday, competing in the 100m hurdles, high jump, shot put and 200m.
At the conclusion of the first day of competition, Chapman checks in at 13th with 3376 points. She will compete in the long jump, javelin and 800m Saturday.Â
The heptathlon began with the 100m hurdles, and Chapman clocked a 14.13 that earned her 960 points.
In the high jump, the Raleigh, N.C., native leaped for a personal-best mark with her 1.69m (5' 6.5"). The jump added 842 points to her overall score.
Chapman threw for 12.08m (39' 7.75") in the shot put, the 10th-farthest mark of any of the heptathletes, to put up 666 points in the event.
The final event of the day in the heptathlon was the 200m, and Chapman clocked a 24.77 for 908 points.
