Seven Earn Spots at National Championships on Final Day of NCAA East Regional

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Seven members of the NC State women's track & field program posted NCAA Championships-qualifying performances at the NCAA East Regional on Saturday, advancing to the national meet in the 1500m and 5000m.
DISTANCE
NC State opened the day with a pair of national-qualifying performances by Nevada Mareno and Anna Vess in the 1500m. Mareno punched her ticket to the national meet with a personal-best 4:13.49, taking fourth place in her heat to automatically qualify. Her time checks in as fifth-fastest in NC State history.
Vess clocked a 4:13.99 to place 12th overall in the event and qualify to NCAAs. Sam Bush competed in the event as well, running a 4:14.21 to finish 13th.
Sarah LaTour laced up for the Pack in the 3000m steeplechase, crossing the finish line 33rd with a 10:30.94.
In the women's 5000m, five of NC State's seven competitors notched spots at NCAAs. Katelyn Tuohy led the way with a 15:25.14, a facility record, that placed her first overall.
Savannah Shaw was the second member of the Pack across the line, running a personal-best 15:33.42 for the fourth-fastest time in program history and the third-fastest time at the meet.
Bush competed in the 5000m as well, securing her spot at the national meet with a 15:35.55 that ranks as the sixth-quickest program mark.
The 5000m race also saw Hannah Steelman post a qualifying performance with a 15:36.05, the sixth-fastest overall time.
Marlee Starliper rounded out the group of qualifiers with a 15:37.83 that was the eighth-fastest time run at the meet.
Mariah Howlett competed in the 5000m as well, placing 36th overall with a 16:32.28.
JUMPS
Michelle Cobb participated in the triple jump, leaping 12.48m (40' 11.5") to place 29th.
SPRINTS
In the 400m, Jada Griffin finished 15th with a time of 52.75.
McKenzie Long laced up for NC State in the 200m, coming across the line in 23.27.
