
Track & Field Tabs Podium Finishes at ACC Championships

DURHAM, N.C. - The NC State track & field teams continued competition at the ACC Championships on Friday, collecting multiple podium finishes and All-ACC honors.
DISTANCE
Sam Bush took first in her preliminary heat in the women's 800m, running a 2:07.02 to automatically qualify to the final. Caroline Lewis competed in the event as well, setting a personal record with her 2:13.71.
Three men in the 800m prelims posted personal records, led by Zach Hughes' school record-setting 1:49.12. Kyle Durham also bested the previous record with a 1:49.52, and Jake Toomey rounded out the group with a 1:50.84, good for the seventh-best time in program history.
Alyssa Hendrix recorded a PR in the women's 3000m steeplechase with a 10:38.40.
In the men's 3000m steeplechase section, Brett Gardner ran an 8:37.75 that checks in as fourth-fastest in program history. His time earned him third place alongside First Team All-ACC honors and ranks 13th in the nation.
JUMPS
Michelle Cobb attained a third-place finish in the women's triple jump, leaping 12.62m (41' 5") to tab First Team All-ACC accolades. Jirah Sidberry garnered Second Team All-ACC honors with a 12.56m (41' 2.5") mark that ranks seventh in program history.
MULTI-EVENTS
Timara Chapman continued women's heptathlon, posting second-place finishes in two of Friday's events and a second place finish overall. She compiled 5733 points, besting her own program record and placing second to achieve First Team All-ACC. The mark additionally ranks eighth nationally.
In the javelin throw, Chapman placed second with a PR of 38.70m (127' 0"). Her throw checks into the NC State record book as the fifth-best in program history.
The heptathlon finished with the 800m, and Chapman recorded another top-three finish alongside another personal best. She ran a 2:16.30 for second place in the event.
SPRINTS
Ally Henson opened sprinting competition for NC State with a 13.73 in the women's 100m hurdles, a time good to qualify her into Saturday's event final
Both members of the Pack advanced out of the men's 110m hurdles prelims as Cameron Murray (13.87) automatically qualified as the second finisher in his heat. Joshua Brockman qualified automatically as well, placing second in his heat with a personal-best 13.76 that ranks sixth in program history.
In the women's 400m prelims, Jada Griffin won her heat with a 53.33 that was the second-fastest overall time in the preliminaries. The time was good to automatically qualify her to the final on Saturday.
The men's 100m preliminaries saw Alexander Lang qualify into the event final, running a 10.36.
Henson followed up a strong hurdles performance with a PR in the women's 100m preliminaries, running a 12.08.
Alexander Nunley registered a personal best in the men's 100m with a time of 10.69.
