
Track & Field Sends Six Entries to NCAA Championships

RALEIGH - The NC State track & field programs are set for the NCAA Championships and will send nine student-athletes to compete in six events. The meet runs June 9-12 and will be held in Eugene, Ore.

Competition will open for NC State Wednesday, June 9 with the men's 4x100m relay semifinals. Alan Alvarez, Joshua Brockman, Cravont Charleston, Von Douglas, Junpai Dowdy and Henry Young are set to represent the Wolfpack in the event after posting the eighth-fastest overall time at the NCAA East Preliminary.
Hannah Steelman and Kelsey Chmiel are set to be the first Wolfpack women to compete at the meet, Steelman in the women's 3000m steeplechase semifinal and Chmiel in the women's 10000m final Thursday, June 10. Each of the women clocked times that were in the top eight overall in their respective events at the East Preliminary.
The men's 4x100m relay final will take place Friday, June 11, and Ian Shanklin will run in the men's 5000m final that same day. Shanklin tabbed third place in his heat of the 5000m at the East Preliminary with the 10th-quickest mark at the meet.
Saturday, June 10 will see the women's 3000m steeplechase final as well as the women's 5000m final. Elly Henes and Savannah Shaw will lace up for NC State in the 5000m after both finishing in the top eight overall at Regionals.
