Wolfpack Punches Pair of Tickets to NCAA Championships

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The NC State men's track & field team finished NCAA East Preliminary competition on Friday, posting several marks that qualified for the National Championships.
JUMPS
Chris Alexander tabbed a strong outing at his first NCAA East Preliminary, finishing 13th in the men's triple jump. The Charlotte, N.C., native posted a 15.84m(w) (51'11.75") in his second event of the East Preliminary.
SPRINTS
NC State's men's 4x100m relay team automatically qualified for a spot at the NCAA Championships in the event, running a 39.24 that was the best time by a Wolfpack men's 4x100m squad in 2021. Henry Young, Von Douglas, Junpai Dowdy and Alan Alvarez made up the team, and their time was eighth-fastest overall. The mark additionally checks into the NC State record book as the eighth-fastest time in program history.
DISTANCE
Ian Shanklin posted a performance in the men's 5000m that was good to auto-qualify him to Nationals. His time of 13:48.77 earned him a third-place finish in his heat and 10th place overall.
Joe Bistritz represented NC State in the men's 5000m as well, posting a 14:23.79 to place 40th overall.
