NC State Earns Three More NCAA Championships Qualifications

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The NC State track & field teams concluded action at the NCAA East Preliminary on Saturday, punching three more tickets to the NCAA Championships.
JUMPS
It was a personal best-tying performance for Michelle Cobb in the women's triple jump. Her mark of 12.99m (42'7.5") was good for a 14th-place finish and tied her own third-best jump in program history.
DISTANCE
Katelyn Tuohy opened running events for NC State in the women's 1500m quarterfinals. The freshman ran a 4:23.47 to finish 18th overall.
In the women's 3000m steeplechase, Sarah LaTour and Hannah Steelman represented the Wolfpack. Steelman clocked a 9:57.18 to win her heat and post the sixth-fastest overall time in the event. LaTour continued an impressive season in the steeplechase with a 26th-place finish, posting a 10:28.36.
Elly Henes and Savannah Shaw each punched a ticket to the NCAA Championships in the women's 5000m. Shaw posted a fourth-place overall finish, running a 15:56.52, while Henes finished in eighth place overall with a time of 15:57.98.
Kelsey Chmiel ran a 16:15.63 to finish seventh in her heat and 15th overall.
The 5000m was the second race of the evening for both Steelman and Tuohy. Steelman posted a 16:32.75 for 28th place, and Tuohy tabbed a 16:45.05 to place 33rd.
SPRINTS
In the women's 100m hurdles, Akira Rhodes posted her second-fastest time of the season with a 13.07. The time placed her in 14th overall.
UP NEXT
NC State will send six entries to the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Ore., June 9-12.
