Wolfpack Moves on to Event Finals at ACC Indoor Championships

CLEMSON, S.C. - The NC State track & field team concluded its second day of Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Indoor Championships competition on Friday with multiple members of the squad qualifying for the finals of their respective events.
At the end of the second day, the Wolfpack women compiled 10 points while the men earned five.
JUMPS
Von Douglas got the Wolfpack men's first points of the meet with his fourth-place finish in the men's long jump. The senior jumped 24'11" (7.59m) to earn Second Team All-ACC honors in the event.
DISTANCE
Three members of the Wolfpack competed in the women's mile, and all three qualified for the finals. Redshirt senior Anna Vess posted the top time of the three women, posting a 4:47.68 that was good for first place in her heat.
Sam Bush competed in the same heat as Vess, taking second with a run of 4:47.86. Rounding out the finals qualifiers was Sarah LaTour, who posted a 4:47.95.Â
In the women's 5000m, Mariah Howlett posted a personal-best time of 16:36.70.
SPRINTS
Both of NC State's men's 60m hurdles runners qualified for Saturday's finals. Joshua Brockman tabbed the top time in his heat of the 60m hurdles preliminaries with a 7.93. Cameron Murray set a PR in the event and qualified for the finals with a 7.88 that was good for the third-best mark in program history.
On the women's side, Akira Rhodes improved her 60m hurdles PR with a time of 8.30. The time checked into the NC State record book as the fourth-fastest in program history and was good to qualify the sophomore for Saturday's finals.Â
