Wolfpack Claims Two First-Place Finishes on First Day of Hokie Invitational

BLACKSBURG, VA. - The NC State track & field team began competition at its second meet of the 2021 season on Saturday, seeing action at the Hokie Invitational.
SPRINTS
Sophomore Akira Rhodes recorded a second-place time in the women's 60m hurdles, posting an 8.34. That mark is good for the fourth-best time in program history in the event.
JUMPS
Senior Michelle Cobb tabbed a first-place finish in the triple jump for NC State's first top finish of the day, posting a 42'10.75" (13.07m) for first place.
DISTANCE
The Wolfpack took two of the podium spots in the women's mile with junior Savannah Shaw running the top time of 4:45.87 and sophomore Sam Bush recording a personal-best 4:53.57 to take third place.
Five of the top seven finishers in the women's mile were members of the Wolfpack with Anna Vess, Alyssa Hendrix and Gionna Quarzo placing fifth, sixth and seventh, respectively.
