
Wolfpack Blanks Duquesne, 3-0

RALEIGH – It was all No. 14 NC State women's soccer in its convincing 3-0 win over Duquesne on Sunday afternoon at Dail Soccer Stadium in Raleigh, N.C.
Freshman striker Jameese Joseph and redshirt-sophomore defender Lulu Guttenberger each scored their first career goals to propel the Wolfpack to its second shutout victory of the season.
The Pack improves to 3-2-0 while the Dukes move to 1-2-2 on the year.
Joseph put her team on the board early with what proved to be the game-winner in the fourth minute off of a Tziarra King assist after a deflection inside the six-yard box.
Guttenberger doubled her team's lead in the 25th minute with her first of two goals on the day, as Joseph delivered a perfect cross to her inside the 18-yard box. Her other goal came in the 50th minute when Ricci Walkling played to her 20 yards out off of a short Toni Starova corner kick.
NC State outshot Duquesne 23-4, and the Dukes' first scoring opportunity of the match didn't come until the 62nd minute. The Pack additionally won nine corners to Duquesne's zero.
Goalkeepers Jessica Berlin and Eden Millan combined for the shutout, as Millan made her first official career appearance in goal and was only forced to make one save.
NC State returns to action Thursday when it travels to Minnesota, its second B1G opponent of the year. Kickoff is set for 8 p.m. ET at the Elizabeth Lyle Robbie stadium in Minneapolis, Minn. The match will be broadcast on the B1G Network.
