RALEIGH – No. 14 NC State women's soccer dropped its home opener to Iowa on Friday evening, 1-0, at Dail Soccer Stadium in Raleigh, N.C.
The Wolfpack moves to 2-2-0 on the year while the Hawkeyes remain undefeated and improve to 5-0-0 in the 2019 season.
Samantha Tawharu's goal in the 37th minute off of a Samantha Cary cross to approximately 10 yards out was the difference. Until the goal the possession was fairly even between the squads, but after Iowa took the narrow advantage the Pack struggled to find the equalizer the remainder of the match.
The Hawkeyes outshot the Pack 13-4, while both squads won three corners apiece.
NC State returns to action Sunday when it hosts Duquesne in a 1 p.m. contest at Dail Soccer Stadium. The contest will be broadcast on the ACC Network Extra.
