Wolfpack Drops Road Contest To #4 North Carolina

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – NC State women's soccer narrowly dropped its road contest to fourth-ranked North Carolina, 1-0, on Thursday evening at the UNC Soccer Stadium in Chapel Hill, N.C.
The Tar Heels scored an early goal in the second half, and despite finding four scoring opportunities the Wolfpack was unable to find the equalizer. NC State moves to 5-4-1 (0-1-1 ACC) while the Heels improve to 9-1-0 (2-0-0 ACC) on the season.
Out of the 11 shots that the Tar Heels had in the first half, goalkeeper Jessica Berlin was only tested once and handled the save.
North Carolina's Lois Joel broke the deadlock in the 52nd minute with a finish from inside the 18' off of an Isabel Cox assist.
All four of NC State's shots came in the second half, and two of them came within a minute after the UNC goal.
The Tar Heels outshot the Pack 15-4, and won seven corners compared to NCSU's one.
NC State will wrap up a four-game road swing Sunday when it travels to Wake Forest. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. from Spry Stadium in Winston-Salem, N.C., and the match will be broadcast on Regional Sports Networks (check local listings).
