Wolfpack Closes Out Nonconference Play With 5-2 Win Over Pirates

The strong performance closes out nonconference play for the Wolfpack, as it improves to 5-3-0 on the year while the Pirates fall to 3-4-1.
Three different players scored their first goal of the season, while Tziarra King tallied a career-high seven points (two goals, three assists) and has scored five goals in two matches.
Thanks to her efforts on Wednesday, King moved into a tie for third all-time in career scoring at NC State with 42 goals and jumped to fifth overall with 101 career points.

Ricci Walkling and Paige Griffiths quickly gave the Pack a 2-0 advantage in the first seven minutes when King connected with both from close range. It was the first goal of the season for both senior midfielders.
King then found the back of the net in the 16th minute for her sixth goal of the year, capitalizing on a blocked Jameese Joseph shot.
In the 28th minute, Jenna Dages put the Pirates on the board after finding the rebound on a saved penalty kick by goalkeeper Jessica Berlin.
Leyah Hall-Robinson put away the first goal of her Wolfpack career in the 31st minute, as King once again found her inside the 10-yard range for her fifth point of the contest.
King put away her second goal of the night in the 56th minute thanks to a Hall-Robinson assist.
Seven minutes later, Madie Knaggs netted the Pirates' other goal of the contest with the unassisted effort, making the score 5-2.
NC State opens up ACC play at No. 15 Duke Sunday. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. at Koskinen Stadium in Durham, N.C., and the match will be broadcast on the ACC Network. It will be the second of four NC State matches that will be on the linear network.
