Pack Runners Impress at Music City Distance Carnival

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Competing at the 2019 Music City Distance Carnival on Saturday evening against a field of professional and collegiate runners, the Pack track and field team was well-represented with impressive times in the men's and women's 1500m races.
On the women's side, Elly Henes ran unattached and Dominique Clairmonte competed for the Pack. Henes crossed the finish line in 4:14.32, a new PR, which would register as No. 2 in the NC State record books. The five-time track and field all-conference performer shaved four seconds off her previous best mark of 4:18.76.
With a time of 4:22.53, Clairmonte notched a top-35 finish in the event.
Running in the Pack uniform, Ares Epps clocked in at 3:45.93.The freshman placed third in his section and 14th overall with his new personal-best mark.

The Pack NCAA qualifiers will travel to Austin, Texas, June 5-8 to compete at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships. NC State will be represented by Cravont Charleston (100m), Nell Crosby (3000m steeplechase), the men's 4x100m relay (Junpai Dowdy, Charleston, Shannon Patterson, Quashawn Cunningham), Jamar Davis (triple jump), and Ian Shanklin (5000m).
