Two Earn All-ACC Honors on First Day at #ACCOTF Championship

Janel Pate Notched a Third-Place Finish in Women's Long Jump
Janel Pate jumped her way to the first all-conference honor of her career. Recording a personal-best 20'9.75" (6.34m) mark in women's long jump, the senior collected bronze-medal honors, logging the Pack's first podium finish of the weekend.
The Nashville, Tenn., native posted her best mark on the sixth and final attempt to put points on the board for NC State. The jump registers as the third-best mark in school history.
In the men's long jump, Von Douglas earned Second Team All-ACC status, the first all-conference honor of his career, thanks to a season-best 24'7.25" (7.50m) jump to place sixth among all competition. Douglas' performance on Thursday ranks in the top 10 in the NC State record books.
After the first day, the Virginia men (34 pts.) and Florida State women (39 pts.) lead the way. The NC State men check in at No. 10 (four points), only competing in two finals on Thursday, and the women check in at No. 8 (six pts.), also only competing in two finals.
Sprints: Gabriele Cunningham opened up competition in the 200m dash prelims, finishing in 23.48, taking second place in her heat and qualifying for the final on Saturday evening. Her prelims performance stands as fifth-fastest in the prelims and at No. 4 in the NC State record books.

On the men's side, two Pack sprinters ran their way into the 200m dash final on Saturday afternoon. Cravont Charleston glided to first place in his heat and posted the fourth-fastest time overall (20.95). Teammate Shannon Patterson notched a season-best 21.01 to post the sixth-fastest time in the prelims, qualifying him for the final.

Distance: Redshirt freshman Nevada Mareno recorded the 1500m prelims second-fastest time, crossing the finish line in 4:20.29 to qualify for Saturday's afternoon final.

Mareno clocks in at 4:20.29 and finishes second in her heat with the second-fastest time in the prelims overall.

Rebekah Greengrass outran her previous career mark in the event by three seconds with a 4:46.13 mark.
In the final event of the night, Patrick Sheehan turned in a personal-best 30:08.37 in the men's 10,000m, good for an eighth-place finish.
Jumps: Jamar Davis recorded his second conference championship top-10 long jump finish of his young career with a 23'10" (7.26m) mark, good for 10th place. The freshman took home silver-medal honors at the 2019 ACC Indoor Championships in the event.
Multi-event: Timara Chapman, the 2019 Indoor Track and Field Freshman of the Year, picked up where she left off after a third-place finish in the pentathlon at the conference indoor championship. Through four events, she stands in third place with 3,241 pts. in the women's heptathlon.
The Raleigh native set personal-bests to start the day in the 100m hurdles and 200m dash, clocking in at 14.50 and 25.17 respectively.
Teammate Mikieja Covington notched two career marks, running the 100m hurdles in 14.12 and throwing for 36'1.25" (11.00m). The Wendell, N.C., native's 2,983 points positions her in sixth place heading into the final day of heptathlon competition.
Heptathlon competition concludes Friday with long jump, javelin throw, and the 800m.
