Pack Garners All-American Honors on First Day at NCAA Indoor T&F Championships

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The NC State track and field team competed at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships Friday evening at the Birmingham CrossPlex in Birmingham, Ala.
Gabriele Cunningham earned All-American honors in 60m hurdles for the second consecutive season. In her first event of the day, she posted a time of 8.14 in the prelims, which is the third-fastest time in the NC State record books.
The Charlotte, N.C., native would then earn her second All-American honor less than an hour later in the 60m dash, clocking a 7.34. That time sits as second-fastest in school history. Cunningham's performance Friday night marks the first All-American the Pack has had in the women's 60m dash.
Cravont Charleston claimed Second Team All-American status, finishing ninth in the 60m dash in 6.64. In the NC State record books, that mark is fourth-best, sitting behind his school-best time of 6.54. Charleston is the second Pack member to earn All-American honors in the 60m dash.
The school record holder in shot put, Lauren Evans earned All-American status with a 52'2" (15.90m) throw in women's shot put. Her performance is good for fourth-best in program history. She is the second thrower to earn All-American status in women's shot put at NC State.
Elly Henes rounded Friday's competition for the Pack with her second consecutive All-American accolade in the women's indoor 5000m.
