INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Five members of the NC State track and field team have advanced to participate in the 2019 NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Indoor Track and Field Championships, which will be held in Birmingham, Ala. March 8-9.
Three of the five Pack members will make their NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships debut (Cravont Charleston, Jamar Davis, Lauren Evans), while Elly Henes and Gabriele Cunningham return to the championships after gaining All-American status in 2018.
Charleston (60m dash), Davis (triple jump), Cunningham (60m dash, 60m hurdles), Henes (3000m, 5000m), and Evans (shot put) all qualified for the national meet after posting top-16 national marks in their respective events.
Charleston holds the No. 3 seed in the 60m dash with a 6.54 mark, which he achieved at the Clemson Tiger Paw Invitational, breaking the school record and setting a personal best.
Davis is the lone freshman in the triple jump competition. With a 52'6.5" (16.01m) jump recorded at the ACC Indoor Track and Field Championships, Davis is the No. 15 seed. The Mebane, N.C., native bested his career mark by over two feet in his final jump at the conference championships to claim silver-medal honors.
Cunningham will compete in the 60m dash and the 60m hurdles. The Charlotte, N.C., native became an All-American in the 60m hurdles at the 2018 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships.
