Â
Lawson McArthur drew a one-out walk and advanced to second on a throwing error by the pitcher, as the Wolfpack had the winning run in scoring position with just one out. After a flyout, Will Wilson drew a walk and Bailey followed with the game-winning single.
Â
It was NC State's first walkoff win since April 29, 2016, against Duke.
Â
Four different Wolfpack pitchers combined to prevent Kent State, a team receiving votes for the top 25 poll that has won three consecutive Mid-American Conference (MAC) Championships, from scoring an earned run. Both of the Golden Flashes runs were unearned.
Â
Kent Klyman finished the game on the mound to earn his second win of the season, while Zach Schultz was charged with the loss.
Â
NC State remains unbeaten on the year at 5-0, while Kent State is still looking for its first win (0-4).

Â
- Kent State pushed across the game's first runs, as NC State found itself trailing for just the second time this season.
- The Golden Flashes took advantage of the Wolfpack's first error of the year, plating two runs in the bottom of the third.
- Sophomore Devonte Brown sparked the NC State offense in the sixth, as he ripped a 2-1 pitch off the wall in left center, narrowly missing his first collegiate home run.
- Wilson followed two batters later with a single up the middle, as Brown raced around to score from second to get the Wolfpack on the board.
- A solo homer from Wilson knotted the game at two apiece in the eighth, as the junior shortstop crushed a 3-2 delivery from Jack Zimmerman over the left field. It was his third round-tripper of the season.
Â
On the Mound
- NC State pitchers did not allow an earned run or an extra-base hit in the contest.
- Junior Jason Parker started on the mound for the Pack and threw four innings with four strikeouts.
- Evan Justice was brilliant out of the bullpen, striking out five batters and 34 of the 47 pitches he threw were strikes.
- Dalton Feeney pitched 1.2 innings before handing the ball to Klyman, who threw the final 1.1.
