Big Inning Lifts #21 NC State Past Michigan State in Shutout Fashion

Wolfpack pitchers have not allowed an earned run in the last 29 innings
CONWAY, S.C. – Headlined by four runs in the seventh inning, the 21st-ranked NC State baseball team earned a 5-0 win against the Michigan State Spartans Saturday afternoon at Springs Brooks Stadium in the Baseball at the Beach Tournament hosted by Coastal Carolina.

The Wolfpack picked up its second shutout win of the season and is the only team in the ACC to record more than one shutout this year. NC State pitchers have not allowed an earned run in the last 29 innings.

Sophomore Reid Johnston earned his first win of the season on the mound with 4.2 innings and he struck out a career-high seven batters. Michigan State's Mitchell Tyranski was charged with the loss, as he yielded four runs in his first inning of work.

NC State remains unbeaten on the season at 6-0, while the Spartans fall to 1-5

- Following six scoreless innings, Tyler McDonough led off the seventh with a single up the middle and advanced to third on a pinch-hit double by Thayer Thomas.
