Lauren Evans Won the Shot Put Title Saturday
BLACKSBURG, Va. and WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The NC State men's and women's track and field teams set four personal-bests at the Virginia Tech Challenge and JDL DMR Invitational on Saturday. The Pack totaled eight personal-bests over the course of two days.
Lauren Evans continued her impressive 2019 campaign with her 14th first-place finish, taking home the shot put title.
Throws: Lauren Evans threw her way to the women's shot put title with a 51'2.25" (15.60m) mark. Her performance on Saturday is fourth-best in program history.
Tyson Fortenberry collected a bronze medal in men's shot put competition. His 53'11" (16.43m) mark earned him his second podium finish of the weekend and ranks ninth in the NC State record books. Fortenberry out-performed the ACC Indoor Championship qualifying standard (16.18m).
Mid-Distance: In the women's mile, Savannah Shaw (4:47.37), Heather Holt (4:57.59), and Sarah LaTour (4:58.30) placed in the top-15. Their times all registered as personal-bests.
