Track and Field Concludes Competition at Texas Tech Classic

NC State set two school records at the event
LUBBOCK, Texas --Â The NC State men's and women's track and field teams concluded competition at the Texas Tech Classic in Lubbock, Texas, at the Sports Performance Center on Saturday. The Pack set two school records and collected five podium finishes over a three-day span.
On Friday, Gabriele Cunningham bested her former school record time of 7.31 by running a 7.23 to take second place in the 60m dash final. Cravont Charleston followed up Cunningham's performance by earning a gold-medal finish with a school record time of 6.56. His time stands as the fastest in the world.
Lauren Evans extended her podium streak to double-digits, as her shot put efforts secured her the 10th straight podium finish of the season on Saturday. She has placed on the podium in every event she has competed in during the 2018-19 indoor season.
Throws: Evans threw for her fifth shot put title of the season. Her 52'11.5" (16.14m) mark was the best of nine finalists in the event.Â
Jumps:Â Janel Pate and Michelle Cobb participated in women's long jump, recording 19'5.25" (5.92m) and 17'5.5" (5.32m) marks.
In men's long jump, Jamar Davis earned bronze medal honors with a 24'2.25" (7.37m) mark, a personal-best.Â
JaTory Reid represented NC State in men's high jump, recording a 6'8" (2.03m) jump.
Sprints: McKenzie Long ran an ACC Indoor Championships qualifying time of 24.09 in the women's 200m dash, placing her 14th out of a field of over 50 sprinters.
In the men's 200m dash, Charleston and Quashawn Cunningham posted times of 21.21 and 21.29, finishing in the top-15. Both sprinters outran the conference qualifying standards (21.64). Will Hoffmann ran a personal-best 22.43.
Relays:Â The women's 4x400m relay team consisting of Pate, Long, Cunningham, and Jada Griffin recorded a 3:52.29 to conclude Pack competition at the Texas Tech Classic.
