RALEIGH, N.C. – The NC State baseball team will host one of the nation's top offenses Tuesday evening when UNCG heads to Raleigh for a 6 p.m. first pitch at Doak Field at Dail Park.

The Spartans currently own the second-best batting average in the nation with a .335 clip and have compiled a 21-10 overall record this season. NC State heads into the matchup with an 18-15 mark.

The game will be broadcast live on the ACC Network Extra, accessible through Watch ESPN and the Watch ESPN App. Radio coverage will also be available on WKNC 88.1 FM and on GoPack.com for premium subscribers.

Last Time Out
In its last outing, NC State defeated No. 22 Florida State 8-4 in game three on Sunday to clinch the series. The Wolfpack received another strong pitching performance from freshman Michael Bienlien and collected 13 hits to earn the victory.

UNCG won 9-3 in its most recent outing on Sunday to complete the three-game sweep of Furman at home.

The Series
NC State leads the all-time series with UNCG, 27-8.

Last Time Versus UNCG
Tuesday's contest will mark the second time the teams have met this season, as NC State won the first matchup on Feb. 28 in Greensboro, 8-2. Junior Brock Deatherage led the Wolfpack at the plate in that contest with a 3-for-5 performance to go along with two RBI and two runs.

Freshman pitcher Dalton Feeney earned his first collegiate win in that game with 1.2 innings of relief.

Last Time Versus UNCG in Raleigh
UNCG also visited Doak Field at Dail Park last year, as the Wolfpack recorded an 8-4 win thanks to a six-run eighth inning. NC State trailed 4-2 heading to the bottom of the eighth, but the Pack scored six runs on five hits and capitalized on a Spartans error to earn the victory.

Tommy DeJuneas logged the win for NCSU with two innings of relief.

Scouting UNCG
UNCG enters Tuesday's game red-hot, as the Spartans have won five consecutive games and 14 of their last 16. Despite playing 31 games on the year, only seven of them have been on the road and UNCG in 3-4 in those contests.

The Spartans have a potent offense that averages 11.65 hits per game and 7.84 runs per game. Seven of UNCG's starters have compiled a batting average better than .300, headlined by Caleb Webster with a .438 clip at the plate.

On the mound, UNCG has had its struggles to notch a 5.17 ERA to go along with a 2.02 strikeout to walk ratio. Jake Lewis will make his first start of the season on the mound for the Spartans Tuesday evening and owns a 9.00 ERA in 10 innings pitched.

Avent Approaching 1,000 Career Wins
NC State head coach Elliott Avent is approaching 1,000 career wins, as he heads into Tuesday's contest with 997 to his credit. He would become the fifth active head coach in the ACC with 1,000 or more career wins.

Additionally, Avent would join an elite group as only 15 active Division I head coaches have reached 1,000 career wins.

Johnny On the Spot
Redshirt senior Johnny Piedmonte made his first start of the season for NC State in last week's midweek game against UNC Asheville and delivered a strong performance to earn the win. He allowed just two hits and one earned run to go along with four strikeouts in five innings pitched.

The Wolfpack will hope for a similar performance when he takes the mound Tuesday night.

HIT-ting Stride
In its last five games, NC State batters have compiled a .349 batting average complemented by 60 hits, 41 runs scored, 15 doubles and six home runs. The Wolfpack is 4-1 during the stretch and is averaging 8.2 runs per game.
