RALEIGH, N.C. – The sixth-ranked NC State baseball team welcomes the Charlotte 49ers to Doak Field at Dail Park for a midweek matchup Wednesday afternoon. First pitch is slated for 3 p.m.

NC State enters Wednesday's tilt with a 5-2 overall record, while Charlotte is 6-2.

Freshman Mathieu Gauthier will get the ball for NC State Wednesday afternoon and will make his first collegiate start against Charlotte. The Canadian has made two appearances for the Wolfpack with a 4.76 ERA in 5.2 innings pitched to go along with nine strikeouts. He earned his first collegiate win in Saturday's game against Austin Peay.

Charlotte has opened the 2017 season strong, owning a 6-2 record heading into Wednesday's matchup with NC State. The 49ers earned a 12-2 home victory against Rider in their most recent outing on Sunday afternoon.

NC State leads the all-time series with Charlotte, 27-8, and won the last meeting between the teams, 7-3, on April 6, 2016 in Raleigh.
