Junior Joe Dunand hits his first homer of the season
RALEIGH, N.C. – The sixth-ranked NC State baseball team used a balanced effort to clinch the series against Austin Peay with a 6-3 win Saturday afternoon at Doak Field at Dail Park. The Wolfpack moves to 4-1 on the season, while the Governors fall to 3-3.

The Wolfpack jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second following a solo home run by Joe Dunand. The Miami, Fla., native deposited the 1-1 pitch from Costanzo over the left field fence for his first homer of the season and 12th of his career.

Tommy DeJuneas ignited the offense with an RBI double to left field, Shane Shepard followed with an RBI double down the right field line and Jack Conley hit the Pack's third consecutive RBI double with a shot to left field.
Â
Josh McLain reached on an error by the second baseman to allow Conley to score the final run of the frame for the Wolfpack to make it 5-0.
Â
Alex Sala ended NC State's thoughts of a shutout with a solo home run to lead off the seventh for Austin Peay. The Governors tried to make a comeback with two additional runs in the eighth to trim the Wolfpack lead to 5-3, but Zach Usselman tallied back-to-back strikeouts to escape the jam.
Â
Conley started a rally with two outs in the eighth inning for the Wolfpack by doubling to deep left center and McLain followed with an RBI single to center field, pushing the NC State lead to 6-3.
Â
Usselman worked a perfect ninth inning getting a groundout to shortstop, strikeout looking and a popout to Shepard at first base to end it.
