Wolfpack Wraps Up December Competition at Hoosier Open Friday

NC State throwers Josh Davis and Lauren Evans are set to compete at the meet, beginning Friday at 3:45 p.m.
RALEIGH, N.C. -- NC State throwers Joshua Davis and Lauren Evans will compete at the Hoosier Open Friday, Dec. 8, hosted by Indiana University at the Gladstein Fieldhouse in Bloomington, Ind. Both athletes will participate in the weight throw, while Evans will also compete in the women's shot put.

Davis and Evans opened their respective seasons last week at the JDL College Kick-off Classic in Winston-Salem, N.C.
Davis had a record-breaking performance, posting the furthest weight throw in NC State history with a mark of 76' 3" (23.24m) to break his own program record. The distance also broke the JDL facility record, previously held by NCAA Division II National Champion Justin Welch of the University of Findlay (Ohio).
Evans also posted a strong showing at JDL, earning gold and silver medals in the weight throw and shot put, respectively. Her weight throw of 67' 8" (20.26m) set a new personal record and was the second-best mark in program history. In the shot put, Evans tabbed second place at the meet with a toss of 49' 4.5" (15.05m) that was well above the ACC Indoor Championship qualifying standard.
DAVIS NAMED USTFCCCA NATIONAL ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Davis' record-shattering performance was recognized on the highest stage as he was named National Athlete of the Week by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). All four of his throws at JDL were the top marks by a collegian during the opening weekend of NCAA qualifying.
