
Davis Picks Up Second-Straight Weight Throw Win at Hoosier Open

The redshirt-senior posted a throw of 69' 4.25" (21.14m) on his second attempt to claim his second consecutive first-place finish in the event.

BLOOMINGTON, IND. -- Redshirt-senior Joshua Davis earned his second consecutive first-place finish in the men's weight throw Friday evening at the Hoosier Open, hosted by Indiana University at the Gladstein Fieldhouse. Lauren Evans also represented NC State, picking up two top-10 finishes in the women's weight throw and shot put at the meet.
Davis' event-winning throw came on the second attempt, as the reigning National Athlete of the Week posted a distance of 69' 4.25" (21.14m) to claim first place. His second-best throw of 69' 0.75" (21.05m) also would have won the event, as Indiana's Andrew Miller placed second with a mark of 69' 0" (21.03m).
Evans started the meet off for the Wolfpack as she competed in the women's weight throw. The redshirt-junior from Fayetteville, N.C. posted her best mark on the first attempt of the event, throwing a distance of 62' 6.75" (19.07m) to place fifth overall. She also participated in the women's shot put, notching a mark of 46' 0.75" (14.04m) to finish in ninth place.
