NC State baseball tied the third-most runs in program history
The Wolfpack (28-11) scored 25 runs for the first time since February 24, 2013, tied for third-most in program history behind 32 against LaSalle in 2010 and 29 versus Wake Forest in 1984. NC State scored three in the first and fourth, before rallies of five, six, and eight over the last three frames. The Aggies (9-33) scored one in the eighth to set the final 25-1.
Joe Dunand feasted with a career-high six RBIs, topping a five-RBI game against Elon on March 24, 2015, and finishing a triple short of the cycle. Dunand hit his third homer of the year and 13th double in a 3-for-4 game with three runs and a walk.
Ryne Willard, Preston Palmeiro, and Chance Shepard contributed three RBIs each. Brock Deatherage hit his fourth homer of the year in a 2-for-3 outing with two runs and an RBI. Stephen Pitarra reached base in his first at-bat for the fourth time in the last five games. Storm Edwards and Xavier LeGrant both went 2-for-2 with two runs and an RBI. Jack Conley recorded career-highs with three hits, two runs, and two RBIs.
Wolfpack starter Brian Brown (5-1) earned the win on five innings of shutout ball on four hits and two walks, striking out a pair. Johnny Piedmonte retired all six batters he faced on only 12 pitches. Tim Naughton allowed one unearned run in the eighth on two hits. Christian Demby finished the deal with one strikeout and a hit allowed in the ninth.
