NC State baseball won 9-1 on Saturday at NewBridge Bank Park in Greensboro
The Wolfpack (27-11) scored once in the first and second to win its ninth game in the last 11 contests, before stretching the lead to 3-0 in the fifth. North Carolina A&T (9-32) scored on a solo shot in the fifth. The Pack added one for insurance in the seventh, and five more in the ninth thanks to a pair of two-run homers by Preston Palmeiro and Brett Kinneman.
Kinneman homered for his second game in a row. Palmeiro hit his fifth bomb in a 2-for-5 outing with three RBIs and a run.
Every Wolfpack starter contributed at least one hit. Chance Shepard tied a career high with three runs, part of a 2-for-3 day with two walks and a double. Shane Shepard doubled, tripled, and drove in a pair in a 2-for-3 afternoon with two walks. Joe Dunand finished 2-for-4 with a run and a walk.
Wolfpack starter Cory Wilder (3-1) picked up the win over six innings with one earned on six hits and a walk, punching out five. Evan Brabrand followed, working 1 2/3 with two hits allowed, two strikeouts and no walks. Travis Orwig retired the only batter he faced in the eighth. Chris Williams navigated the ninth.
