Virginia (17-10, 5-5) narrowed the margin to 4-3 through three. NC State scored one in the fourth and two more in the fifth, before a Cavalier run made it 7-4 through five. The Pack hung one on the board in the seventh. Virginia made it interesting with three in the eighth to set the final 8-7.
