
Wolfpack Gymnastics Clinches Win Over Cardinals On Senior Day

RALEIGH- The NC State gymnastics team clinched its sixth-straight win in its only home meet of the season on Saturday inside Holliday Gym at Broughton High School, as it tabbed a meet score of 195.900 over Ball State, who posted a 194.775.
The Wolfpack improves to 15-2 on the year while the Cardinals move to 4-11 on its season.
With the team's win on senior day, the Pack earned seven career-high marks and 16 top-five finishes, including a season-best performance on bars as a team. Additionally, NC State swept the podium on three of the four rotations.
In conclusion of the meet, seniors Aubrey Hine, Courtney Turner, Brittni Watkins and Michaela Woodford were honored for their contributions to the program, as all four gymnasts posted scores of 9.700 or higher in their respective events.

Vault
The Pack started the match up on vault, posting a team total of 48.825 as all six competitors earned a 9.700 or higher. Watkins and Chelsea Knight led the team with a 9.825 each to share a tie at the top of the podium, while Paris Phillips earned third-place finish with a 9.750.Â
Additionally, Alexa Phillips notched a 9.725 to finish fifth and Amanda Fillard and Maggie Tamburro tied for seventh place as both earned a mark of 9.700.
Uneven Bars
NC State had two post career-high marks and six tab scores of 9.750 or higher en route to a season-high team score of 49.275 on bars. Watkins led the way again as she earned a career high 9.900 to earn her second event win of the day.Â
Fillard and Nicole Wild shared second place in the event standings as each posted a mark of 9.875, as both performances stand as a career bests.Â
Bars specialist Turner turned in a 9.825 to finish fourth, tying her career best, while Woodford and Knight rounded out the Pack's scores with marks of 9.800 and 9.750, in respective order. Woodford finished sixth and Knight finished eighth in the overall standings.Â
Balance Beam
At the halfway mark NC State held a 1.025-point lead and continued its excellence into the second half of the meet, notching a team mark of 48.825 on beam.
Knight tied her career high on the rotation as she posted a 9.825 to win the event. Woodford was the second-highest scorer for the Wolfpack with a 9.800 to finish in a tie for second, and Hine and Fillard tied for sixth in the event standings as each tabbed a score of 9.750.
Watkins rounded out the top five scores for the Pack as she earned a 10th-place finish with a 9.800.Â
Floor
The Pack managed to clinch its win with a team mark of 48.975 on floor, as Alexa and Paris Phillips each tabbed career-high marks of 9.900 and 9.850 to earn a one, two finish, in respective order.Â
Woodford and Watkins, who also notched a 9.850 each, shared second place in the event standings with Paris to round out the top four scores for the Pack on its final rotation.Â
All-Around
Watkins tabbed her third first-place finish of the day as an all-arounder with a 39.275, while Knight earned a 38.775 to finish second.

The Pack will return to action March 19 when it travels to Pittsburgh for the EAGL Championship. The meet is set for a 2 p.m. start inside the Panthers' Fitzgerald Field House.
